Marit Ilves, Ph.D.

Marit Ilves

Marit grew up in Viljandi, Estonia. She received her BSc and MSc cum laude in applied chemistry and biotechnology from Tallinn University of Technology. She moved to Finland to pursue her doctoral studies in the University of Helsinki, under the supervision of Prof. Harri Alenius. In 2018, she defended her PhD dissertation on immunomodulatory effects of engineered nanomaterials with distinction. Marit joined the Kasper laboratory as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in January 2020. Her current research project focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which symbiotic commensal antigens affect mammalian immune system.
