Postdoctoral Fellow in Immunology
Hyoung Cho

Hyoung-Soo joined the Kasper laboratory as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in November of 2018. He obtained his B.S. in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from Chungnam National University (Mentor: Jaerang Rho, Ph.D.) in Daejeon, South Korea (2007), and M.S. in Microbiology and Immunology from Seoul National University College of Medicine (Mentor: Chung-Gyu Park, M.D. Ph.D.) in Seoul, South Korea (2009). After moving to the United States, Hyoung-Soo did his doctoral research on the function of Tec kinase ITK in effector T cells and ILC2 in the intestine with Dr. Leslie Berg at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester (2018).

His current research project in the Kasper laboratory is to elucidate the structure-function relationship of symbiotic molecules isolated from Bacteroides fragilis and other related species. He is also interested in investigating the various changes in the immune landscape upon colonization of a single microorganism in the host. Outside the lab, Hyoung-Soo lets off steam by listening to the classical music of Mahler Symphonies and Beethoven/Schubert late Piano Sonatas.
